What a Twitterific Awards
Congratulations to Pat Phelan who won the overall IIA NetVisionary award last week. This really is the awards season with Damien Mulleys Web Awards earlier in the month and the Golden Spiders still to come. The awards was one of the first times I watched Twitter in real time. Pat Phelan’s company is behind a number of telecoms innovations including Twitterfone. As the awards were taking place Pat and Rosanne from the IIA were busy with their twitter feeds. Feedback was instant and as the citation was called for the IIA NetVisionary award, the tweeter stream congratulating him was flowing in. The IIA increased their follower base substantially in the run up to the awards and as a result of twittering on the evening. The quality of the follower base is key to Twitter being viewed as a useful tool. We have expertimented with it as an addition to campaigns rather than a key focus in itself. Establishing a base takes time and people have an expectation of a reason flow of micro content. In an information overloaded world its interesting that there is still a demand for extra information – abeit short and snappy.
